The Students Representative Council (SRC) 2022/2023 of the Koforidua Technical University has officially launched the Food Bank as one of its initiatives.
The SRC together with Portter’s City launched the Food Bank initiative on 28th June, 2023 at the Abba Bentil Theater. The event was graced by Prophet Nanasei Opoku-Sarkodie, SRC executives, Denomination executives, and students of the university community.
The SRC President, H.E Divine Obrim Junior, during his speech on the Food Bank, revealed that this initiative was birthed from a discovery made during his campaign where students made it known to him how they struggle to get through each semester due to financial constraints. This situation called for the need to have a policy or program that students can rely on to improve their academic life while on campus. He also promised that the program has come to stay and he will make sure it gets to students who genuinely need it.
Prophet Nanasei Opoku-Sarkodie during his speech at the lunch made emphasis on the financial hardship and starvation most students in school had to go through while focusing on academic work.
The man of God and philanthropist contributed enormously to the Food Bank initiative and promised to continuously support the program and also make sure the Food Bank never run out of food.
This initiative aims at addressing the basic needs of students and we urge all students who genuinely need help, to walk to the SRC secretariat to pick up a form and go through all the processes there is to go through to be enlisted in the program. Students should have faith in the SRC as they put in all measures to make sure the Food Bank stays. We hope that this initiative is sustained and encourage the next administrations to continue this wonderful initiative to help the students.
In light of the plans for this initiative, the Students’ Representative Council encourages all persons or students who may want to contribute to the sustainability of this policy to get in touch with the SRC through its secretariat as our doors are always open for support of any kind. Indeed, we are duty-bound.
Talking about the food bank, some people have gone for an interview for about a month now and still nothing to show… It even sounds to some student like it’s a scam. SRC should do something lickety-split
