The Koforidua Technical University (KTU) Student Representative Council (SRC) elections held on Sunday, 1st September 2024, marked a significant moment in the university’s history. The election witnessed spirited competition for the presidency while, for the first time, all other major portfolios were contested unopposed.
Wisdom Teye Dogah, alongside his running mate Prince Mawutor, secured the SRC Presidential seat with 40.83% of the total votes, triumphing over Stanley Gyan and Albert Apei, who garnered 25.8%, and Salifu Malik and Godwin, who received 31.48%. The decisive victory reflects the confidence of the student body in Dogah and Mawutor’s leadership vision and commitment.
Simon Kojo Dogbe, elected as GNUTS Ambassador, made history by achieving the highest vote percentage of 96%. His overwhelming win highlights strong student support for his platform. Other unopposed candidates recorded remarkable victories:
- Henrietta Owusu, General Secretary, with 91.57%
- Perpetual I. Aisha, Women’s Commissioner, with 91.34%
- Anthony Amaney, Finance Officer, with 91.88%
- Emmanuel Mensah, Procurement Officer, with 90.2%
In his victory speech, Wisdom Teye Dogah expressed gratitude to the students for their trust and pledged to lead an inclusive administration focused on enhancing student welfare and academic experiences.
This election has set a precedent, showcasing the unity and clarity of choice by the student electorate. The newly elected executives are poised to collaborate with the university’s management and the student body to drive positive change and foster academic excellence.
